The museum has lifts, special wheelchair lifts and disabled toilets. They are all suitable for wheelchairs, walkers and mobility scooters, and can be used without assistance. If you have any questions or are in need of any assistance, please ask a member of staff. We will be more than happy to help. STEDELIJK BASE is an exception and is not accessible for mobility scooters, we do have wheelchairs and walkers available.

You may borrow a wheelchair, walker, lightweight folding chair or Alinker (a type of ‘walking bike’) at the information desk. If you would like to reserve one of these items before your visit, simply telephone +31 (0)20 573 2911 (weekdays 09:00-17:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 11:30) or email

Disabled parking
The Stedelijk Museum has disability accessible parking at the group entrance level of Paulus Potterstraat 13. There are also several disability accessible parking spaces in the Q-Park parking garage under the Museumplein.

With a European disabled parking permit, parking for free is allowed in almost all places in Amsterdam. The parking permit (valid up to a year before renewal) can be requested from the City of Amsterdam.

Wheelchairs, folding chairs and Alinkers (a specially-designed non-motorised mobility vehicle that looks like a bicycle) are available, free of charge, at the museum. If you’d like to book them in advance, please send an email to or phone us on 020 5732 911.

Care-givers have free admission to the museum on presentation of a care-giver pass or letter signed by a family doctor or specialist. With the exception of registered service dogs, visitors are not permitted to bring domestic pets into the museum. Registered service dogs are allowed in the museum.
