a spectacular film installation grapples with capitalism

In 2023, we wish to present Euphoria, a special and ambitious project for which we are asking your financial help: Euphoria is the spectacular new music-film installation from the German filmmaker and video artist Julian Rosefeldt (1965), who presented the audience favourite Manifesto starring Cate Blanchett in 2017.

About Euphoria
Julian Rosefeldt makes spectacular, visually breath-taking film installations. In music and film, his work Euphoria presents a wide range of statements about capitalism from Karl Marx and Ayn Rand to Mick Jagger, making both the ‘euphoric’ and destructive sides of consumerism tangible.

The stunning large-scale film installation can be seen in Amsterdam’s enormous Central Market Hall. Texts about economy and capitalism are spoken and sung by critically acclaimed performers like Giancarlo Esposito, Virginia Newcomb and Cate Blanchett, all filmed at impressive locations. They are musically supported, in surround video, by a hundred and fifty young singers from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and further aided by five celebrated contemporary jazz drummers, including Terri Lyne Carrington, Peter Erskine and Antonio Sanchez.

Help realise Euphoria
Holland Festival wishes to present Euphoria in June 2023 for seventeen days in Amsterdam’s Central Market Hall. It will be an exceptional installation at a location that is normally not open to the public. We need a large budget for this, in part for several large screens and the latest high-quality AV systems. We need your help in order to realise this large project at the Holland Festival.
