Wichaya Artamat

Wichaya Artamat (Thailand) is an established Thai stage director. Graduated from the film department of Thammasat University, Wichaya started working in theatre as a project coordinator for the Bangkok Theatre Festival of 2008. He joined the New Theatre Society in 2009 and co-founded For What Theatre in 2015. He presents works that communicate and question political issues in various forms with a playful manner and an unconventional theatrical approach. In particular, he is interested in exploring how society remembers and unremembers its memories/histories through certain calendar days.
Wichaya began his international career as an assistant director on Toshiki Okada's Pratthana, which toured Bangkok, Paris, and Tokyo. Since the European premiere of his prominent work, This Song Father Used to Sing (Three Days in May), at Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2019, Wichaya has been continuously touring and creating in many countries.
