Joy Wielkens (1980, Amsterdam) is an actress, singer and theatre maker. In recent years, she has performed in a wide range of (musical) theatre productions, films and TV series. In 2006, she made her first solo programme Sneeuw, a musical theatre programme about love and growing up. This was followed by Negra, another musical theatre piece about the search for a black identity. Her third solo programme Papa was a rollin’…Nobody was a soulful musical theatre portrait of a daughter (Joy) who grows up without a father. As artist in residence of the Bijlmer Parktheater in Amsterdam, she had the opportunity to continue to develop herself as an autonomous artist in a dynamic environment. In 2009, she recorded her first EP: Entrada, which showed her love of Brazilian music. In 2017/2018, Joy was featured in the musical theatre piece Lady sings the blues and the play The Mountaintop.
