Huang Ruo ( 1976, China) is a Chinese‑born composer, pianist and vocalist now based in the United States. His work blends Eastern and Western traditions across orchestra, chamber music, opera and multimedia, architectural installations using a compositional technique he dubbed "Dimensionalism".


Studying music and composition since the age of six, and a graduate of Oberlin and the Juilliard School, he co‑founded the International Contemporary Ensemble and leads the cross‑genre group Future in REverse. He was the first composer‑in‑residence at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and his music includes operas such as An American Soldier and large‑scale works performed worldwide.
