The Holland Festival is an international performing arts festival. It is our mission to show the transformative power of the performing arts. Performing arts have the ability to move, connect and challenge a broad and diverse audience, encouraging reflection on the world we live in.
Every year in June, we present a carefully curated international programme with exceptional makers from around the world, featuring multidisciplinary, artistically daring and large-scale work. Performing arts you wouldn’t otherwise see in the Netherlands.
We acknowledge the fact that we all come from various places, and carry different luggage: of heritage, nationality, ethnicity, age, gender, abilities, economical and social background.
In a world full of turmoil, we believe that the performing arts offer a remedy – a way to explore new perspectives and connect. Imagination opens doors, broadens our thinking and deepens our experience of both art and life.
The Holland Festival provides space for reflection and encounter, and upholds values such as inclusivity, safety and sustainability. We celebrate differences and strive for an environment in which everyone feels welcome.
Art evokes questions, emotions and conversation. It moves us: our body, spirit and emotions. Beyond the mind, the body also plays a huge role in how we experience art. As an instrument of expression and source of connection, it reminds us of our shared humanity. Physical presence – audience and artists coming together – makes this experience meaningful.
Performing arts is something you experience with your head, heart and body – and preferably: together.
Our values are being open-minded, inclusive and respectful . We do not accept any form of discrimination, intolerance or violence. If you have suggestions how we can improve this during the festival, please contact a team member present at the venue.
