Craig Taborn ft. Okkyung Lee, Sun-Mi Hong & Alessandro Fongaro

Copyright information:Luciano Rossetti-ECM Records

During a short residency at the BIMHUIS, Craig Taborn – phenomenal improviser and pioneer of jazz and experimental music – will work on new material with musicians from Amsterdam’s improv scene, which will be presented to the audience while the ink is still fresh.

Craig Taborn (Minneapolis, 1970) is an American pianist and composer who has played a pioneering role in the jazz, improv and experimental music scene for more than 25 years. For his residency at the BIMHUIS, he will be playing with Okkyung Lee, Sun-Mi Hong and Alessandro Fongaro.

Okkyung Lee (South Korea, 1975) is a cellist, improviser and composer. Best known for her improv work, she also creates site-specific work in which she responds to the architecture, the audience or the objects around her. Sun-Mi Hong (South Korea, 1990) is a celebrated drummer based in Amsterdam. She is known for her boundless creativity and infectious energy. Her music combines South Korean and European traditions and sees her explore the uncharted territory between the two. Alessandro Fongaro (Italy, 1991) is a bassist and composer who studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory and the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he took his master’s degree in jazz bass in 2016.
