HF Young 2023

HF Young 2023

HF Young is the platform for everyone under 40 who is interested in performing arts and wishes to learn more about the Holland Festival’s artists and themes.

The HF Young Circle selected eight HF Young Favourites: Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead from Simon McBurney and Complicité, Let X=X from Laurie Anderson and Sexmob, Euphoria from Julian Rosefeldt, The Bacchae from Elli Papakonstantinou, Ariah Lester and the ODC Ensemble, Prophétique (on est déja né.es) from Nadia Beugré, Sigur Rós & London Contemporary Orchestra, Respublika from Łukasz Twarkowski, Lietuvos nacionalinis dramos teatras and Indra's Net from Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble. HF Young members could visit all performances for € 20, apart from Euphoria, which had a ticket price of € 10 with HF Young. No less than 1,270 HF Young tickets were sold this year.

HF Young organised special events during the festival, like the Helpdesk at De Balie, a get-together after the performance of The Bacchae where everyone - thanks to the HF Young costume rack - could feel like a Greek god for a moment, as well as an after-party for Sigur Rós & London Contemporary Orchestra together with Entrée. The HF Young Heroes and Book Clubs allowed for in-depth discussions, and all activities and impressions could be followed via the HF Young channels on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. The festival came to a festive conclusion with a final get-together at the Holland Festival Hub De Balie. HF Young will be briefly back on 4 August during Amsterdam Pride with a closing party for the exhibition Like a River in Melkweg Expo.

This year’s HF Young Circle consisted of: Basak Layic, Che-Sheng Wu, Fenna Visser, Hannah Bakx, Huug Roosjen, Nigel Onwuachu, Sheila Verdegaal, Shervin Fekri, Wouter van Herwaarden and Yvonne Zoethout.
