HF Lab

HF Lab is the Holland Festival's youth programme, made possible by the ELJA Foundation. With workshops, practical experience and their own stage where they can share their vision, creations and experience, young people are actively involved in the festival.

The programme helps young people develop their creativity and look differently at themselves and their place in the world. Thanks to the international scope of the Holland Festival, HF Lab opens new perspectives and encourages understanding of others.

With three different trajectories - HF Lab workshops, HF Lab programmamakers and the HF Lab production team - the Holland Festival provides performance visits and workshop series. The Holland Festival also selects a group of young programmamakers to be part of the festival and offers practical work experience to MBO students.

2025

In 2025, HF Lab takes inspiration from associate artist Trajal Harrell.

HF Lab Workshops

In collaboration with IMC Weekendschool, Hyperion Lyceum, Gerrit van der Veen College and Life Skills, the Holland Festival offers tailor-made programmes including: the dance workshops voguing by Michael Lubbers and Sarada Sarita and butoh by Kees de Haan, the workshop ‘ Wat draag je?’ on identity and fashion by DEGASTEN and more creative assignments inspired by the festival programme.

HF Lab programme makers

In collaboration with DEGASTEN, the HF Lab programme makers dive into Trajal Harrell's work and the theme of identity. In about 10 sessions, they will work towards their own performance: WAKKA. A performance that combines dance, theatre and fashion. About where you come from, who you are and who you want to become. Created by 12 young people.
