Gamelan Salukat

Gamelan Salukat is a 25-member ensemble dedicated to the Balinese gamelan tradition, blending traditional instruments with contemporary improvisatory practice. It was founded by contemporary Balinese composer Dewa Alit, a key figure in contemporary Indonesian music, who brought together members who share deep roots in Indonesian performance culture.

Together, they present rich interlocking textures that reconnect ancient ritual sound with present‑day sonic inquiry. The instruments used by the ensemble were specially built to Alit's design using a unique 10-note scale, taking from past and present to present something radically new.
