Earlier this year, we published all festival years from 1990 through to 2025 in our online archive. The 1980s have now been added as well. During this decade, the festival welcomed legendary artists such as Robert Wilson, Peter Sellars, Louis Andriessen, Pina Bausch and Merce Cunningham. In 1987, the Holland Festival also celebrated its 40th anniversary, with Leonard Bernstein as guest of honour, conducting Mahler’s Fourth Symphony and Schubert’s Fifth Symphony.
