Beijing Repertory Theater

The Beijing Repertory Theatre (BRT) is an independent, not‑for‑profit theatre company founded in 2017 by acclaimed actor Jin Dong and designer Han Jiang. A champion of distinctive artistic visions, BRT brings together theatre makers who share a collective curiosity about the tensions between individuals and society, human environments and the world we inhabit.

The company re‑examines classic works and fosters new writing to offer fresh perspectives on the past and present. Through inventive staging and bold reinterpretations, BRT seeks to expand the language of contemporary theatre. Its productions include new takes on classics such as The Lady from the Sea, directed by Wang Yuanyuan, Beneath the Surface, Slawomir Mrozek’s three short plays, and The Cherry Orchard.
