Cappella Amsterdam

Profile

Chamber choir Cappella Amsterdam was founded in 1970 by Jan Boeke and has been under the artistic direction of chief conductor Daniel Reuss since 1990. For forty years now, Cappella Amsterdam has been giving choral music its place in the 21st century while keeping the rich choral canon alive. Its repertoire ranges from the medieval to the most complex contemporary choral music. The choir focuses on both modern and early music, and gives special attention to the work of Dutch composers, ranging from Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck to Louis Andriessen and Ton de Leeuw. Composers such as Robert Heppener and Jan van Vlijmen composed especially for the choir. In addition, Cappella Amsterdam places choral music as the beating heart in numerous artistic collaborations.
