Vote for the audience favourite of Opera in the Park

May 30, 2022

This year, the annual Opera in the Park, which is free of charge, will not only include a large-screen performance of Der Freischütz, which can also be seen live in National Opera & Ballet on 25 June. This year, we will look back on history by asking the audience which opera in the park they would most like to see again. The favourite will be shown again on 24 June.

The shortlist includes three wonderful operas that have been presented by Dutch National Opera in previous festival editions.

Falstaff - Giuseppe Verdi, Robert Carsen, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Chorus of Dutch National Opera (2014)
Verdi's comic masterpiece tells the story of the corrupt old lech who once more goes out a courting.

Pique Dame - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Stefan Herheim, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Dutch National Opera Chorus (2016)
This opera exposes the darker side of society’s civilised elite, showing how an obsessive desire for wealth can lead to fatal ruin.

Salome - Richard Strauss, Ivo van Hove, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (2017)
An inescapable eruption of religion, sex, and violence, a passionate analysis of the human spirit.
