Philippe Manoury

Profile

Philippe Manoury (Tulle, France, 1952) is regarded as one of the most important French composers as well as a forerunner in the field of live electronics. His oeuvre comprises of many pieces for orchestra, string quartet, piano and various instruments with electronics as well as five operas. He recently finished a large-scale spatial-orchestral project: the Trilogie Köln (Ring, Ins situ and Lab.Oratorium) for François-Xavier Roth and the Gürzenich-Orchestra Cologne.


Manoury is a member of the honorary committee of the French-German fund for contemporary music/Impuls Neue Musik. In 2015, he was elected as a member of the Berlin Akademie der Künste.
