Visit from Minister of Culture
On the 6th of May the Dutch Minister of Culture Ingrid van Engelshoven visited the Amsterdam Muziekgebouw to talk with Joost Westerveld, the director of Amsterdam Sinfonietta, and Emily Ansenk, director of the Holland Festival, about the situation the cultural sector is currently facing. “We shared ideas” said Ansenk to Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad. “For example about more accessible and favourable tax deductions for private donations”. Prior to the conversation a 10-minute mini-concert was performed by fourteen string players of the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, all positioned 1,5 meters apart from eachother. Minister Van Engelshoven expressed she had been looking forward to see the work of Bill T. Jones in June, who is the associate artist for the Holland Festival 2020. She visited Jones’ studio in New York last year.
