Annet Lekkerkerker General Director Holland Festival
Annet Lekkerkerker (b. 1965), currently the Holland Festival's managing director has been appointed as General Director from 1 January 2018. Lekkerkerker will be responsible for both the Holland Festival's management as well as the artistic direction. The Supervisory Board and Annet Lekkerkerker will soon start the recruitment procedure for an artistic leader.
An artistic leader will be recruited this summer to replace the current artistic director Ruth Mackenzie, who will leave the Holland Festival after the 2018 edition to become the artistic director of the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The Holland Festival is looking for a performing artist/creator who will be appointed for four editions. The artistic leader’s complete profile will be announced in mid-July.
Change to the current management model
Lekkerkerker’s appointment as General Director changes the Holland Festival’s current management model from two coordinated directors into one. This enables the festival to maintain a clear artistic course in an increasingly complex environment over a longer term. In addition, essential national and international structural collaboration can be properly maintained.
Martijn Sanders, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: 'Over the past few years, Annet Lekkerkerker has successfully led the Holland Festival in her role as managing director. The Supervisory Board is confident that, due in part to her artistic background and knowledge, she is well suited as General Director to develop business and artistic policy in a changing and complex environment.'
