Holland Festival

Natürlich ist das Holland Festival eines der besten und bedeutendsten Festivals der Welt! Schaut man sich einmal die Liste der Dirigenten, Regisseure, Sänger, Schauspieler, Choreographen an, die in den letzten Jahren dort gearbeitet haben, dann wird man alle bedeutenden Namen aus Musik, Oper, Tanz, Schauspiel finden! Wir wünschen unseren Kollegen beim Holland Festival, mit Pierre Audi an der Spitze, weiterhin einen großen Erfolg!

Grote commotie toen ik ruim tien jaar geleden voorstelde het HF op te heffen, voor dat moment gewoon een goed voorstel. Inmiddels ben ik een van de trouwste bezoekers, en cultuurminnaar. Voor mij is het niet meer uit juni weg te denken. Alleen jammer dat het altijd samenvalt met Oerol…

The famous Holland Festival, with its commitment to progressive and innovative programming, is hosting a tribute to the greatest Arab singer of all time, Oum Kalthoum, in a production of the Beiteddine Festival of Lebanon. It is with great pride that the Beiteddine Festival embarks on this cross-cultural encounter with the Holland Festival in bringing the best of classical Arabic music to a new audience. It is a huge honor to have opened the Holland Festival of 2009 and a special privilege to do so in a brand-new theater. And I am always thrilled to be in the company of the great Ana Laguna.

We have created a unique chamber music hall - a ribbon which spirals and creates an intimate labyrinth of sound. It follows our research into liquid space and layering. With each new location, this ephemeral architecture invites new audiences to enter, explore and experience the magical work of JS Bach. (photo Steve Double)

It is with the greatest of pleasure and professional respect that I recommend the Holland Festival to my local and global colleagues. The innovative and progressive artistic program with consistency advances our awareness and knowledge of art in the performing, media, visual and scenic arts. Toonaangevend, internationaal, vernieuwend, platform en festival in de ware traditie van beleving en spraakmakend door artistieke hoogtepunten en ophefmakende dieptepunten. Noodzakelijk en bepaald niet zelfgenoegzaam en daardoor op zich 'een onNederlands feestje!

Geniet dubbel: word begunstiger zoals ik.

Wandering through the program of this festival it feels as an honor being asked to push new flemish music into the spotlights at this fabulous stage. It felt logical to play also the monumental Shiraz composition by Claude Vivier: its fierce, optimistic believe in the universality of differing cultures by trying to show next to eachother the benefits of it, that seems to me also what this festival is aiming for. Al zeven jaar is het Holland festival voor mij HET jaarlijkse event. Ik ga naar alle opera’s, naar veel concerten, en soms naar theater, en laaf me daaraan. En dan is het juni en BAAAHM, daar is het HOLLANDFESTIVAL. Daar zie, hoor en voel ik muziek, dans en theater die mij naar de keel grijpen of recht naar het hart gaan. Een paar parels uit het lange herinneringensnoer: György Kurtágs en zijn vrouw die in 2006 quatre mains speelden met de rug naar de zaal. De Sahel opera Bintou Were in 2007 waar ik tussen de Malinese grillots en de Kora spelers zat. Een dromerige Winterreise met een Amerikaanse zanger die danst op zijn eigen klaagzang. Richard the Third – An Arab Tragedy door het Koeweitse Sulayman Al-Bassam Theatre. Heel even tijdens die magische weken in juni is Amsterdam wereldtoneel, waar het beste van Oost en West, van toekomst en verleden samensmelten tot een spannend nu.

“Het Holland Festival is een nieuw en een oud verhaal in één. Het is een terugkeer naar een partner die er vanaf het begin bij was, in mijn geval vanaf 'Rosas danst Rosas' in 1983. Het is als een vast rendez-vous met iemand die je al jaren kent. Je gaat je eigen weg maar keert telkens terug.
