Holland Festival

Het Holland Festival brengt ieder jaar weer internationale allure naar Amsterdam, en probeert daar zoveel mogelijk mensen van te laten genieten. Daarom steunt de Turing Foundation al drie jaar lang de klassieke muziekuitvoeringen van het festival.

Het Holland Festival is uniek in de wijze van programmeren van uitdagende hedendaagse muziek en theaterproducties. De kwaliteit is extreem hoog en er wordt een groot veeleisend publiek bereikt. Ik vind het een van Nederlands interessantste festivals waarbij ik vooral het grote internationale belang ervan voor Nederland wil benadrukken.

Holland Festival is the ultimate venue for an encounter between different musical genres that have been inspired by the same sources. For a long time it has been my dream to participate in one of Europe's most important festivals, presenting Norwegian folk music alongside works by J.S. Bach. (HF 2010, Maria's Song)

The Holland Festival is one of the few festivals that we consider artistically and socially significant. Many festivals tend to lose their relevance to the community they serve. The Holland Festival is well regarded in the international arts community not only for its high quality explorative programming but also its ability to engage the broader community through innovative activities like its Eyefuel, Earfuel and Mindfuel events. The way in which the city is engaged through its comprehensive programming and use of spaces in many ways help define the essence of Amsterdam and Holland to visitors. There are thousands of city festivals. Only a few catch our attention and are appealing enough for us to ensure it stays on our 'radar'. The Holland Festival is one such festival.

Het Holland Festival bruist, prikkelt en probeert uit. Het is geweldig om altijd weer op zoek te kunnen naar de meest hoogwaardige en vooruitstrevende technieken, op het hoogste artistieke niveau. Het Holland Festival redt mij van de mogelijke vertrutting in mijn dagelijks leven...

Le Holland Festival est un des grands festivals européens avec lequel le Festival d’Avignon a plaisir à collaborer sur des projets artistiques.

We had the pleasure of attending several events and performances at the 2007 edition of the Holland Festival. We were based in Berlin for most of that year and before returning to Australia both of us had the opportunity to experience, compare and contrast most of the major European art festivals. And without doubt, from a non-European perspective, the Holland Festival has a clear leadership position. For myself I would regard it as being amongst the top three in Europe. Put simply, the programming of the festival presents a rigorous mix of major cultural figures and their work, in combination with new investigations into form and arts innovation. There is a clear assertion of international standards being created, not just aspired to.

It is with the greatest of pleasure and professional respect that I recommend the Holland Festival to my local and global colleagues. The innovative and progressive artistic program with consistency advances our awareness and knowledge of art in the performing, media, visual and scenic arts. It is both the range and depth of the works that are either produced or presented, commissioned or co-commissioned that distinguish the aesthetics of this Festival. The realm of new ideas and techniques within a global perspective and the quality of those works that place this artistic initiative in the City of Amsterdam on our professional horizons prompt us to attend annually. May it continue to thrive and prosper throughout the twenty-first century.

Playing at the Holland Festival has been a great experience for me. The festival has a long history of presenting a variety of new and exciting musical events and the audience is informed and enthusiastic.

De opening van het Holland Festival 2006 met mijn opera 'After Life' was een beslissend moment in mijn carriere. Fantastisch dat Pierre Audi jonge makers dit soort kansen geeft!

Het Holland Festival kijkt vooruit, en biedt daarmee een breed beeld van de nieuwste ontwikkelingen in de (podium) kunsten. Het heeft daarin een lange traditie opgebouwd waarvan de belangrijkste eigenschap is dat het daar nooit in berust of vastloopt.
